"What did you just do?" Mustang asked as he pointed at my neck. I turned so he could see I had a transmutation circle tattooed on the back of my neck.
"You see I can't actually speak, I don't have any vocal cords. This transmutation gives my vocal cords, but they only last a few minutes before they collapse." Edward had walked over and was staring at me in astonishment. "What did you think of my transmutations?"
"It's a good show, you can move very gracefully." Mustang said and I could tell he wasn't imagining me fighting anyone. I turned to Edward waiting for his answer and he just looked away.
"Have you always been mute?" I was so taken aback by his question it took me a minute to realize why he was asking. "During the show you transmuted with out a circle."
"No, I wasn't always mute. That was the sacrifice I made for the transmutation. That's how I can transmute without a circle and how I drew this circle on my neck." I rubbed the back of my neck at that same moment, more out of habit than anything else.
"You were singing! You were singing on stage!" Edward said.

FMA fan fiction, this story line occurs a couple of years after everything hat happened in Fullmetal Alchemist: The Brotherhood. Mustang and Havoc have used the Philosopher's Stone and can now see and walk.
